CROSS MY PALM
Cross My Palm is a 32-page, 6 x 9 – softback book. In it Scott details his, impromptu, reading system based on coins. The book has been very well received by some of mentalism’s most well-known creators and performers, including: Neal Scryer, Richard Webster, Lee Earle, Paul Voudini and Phedon Bilek (see their quotes below).
In the book you will find details on why coins make a useful, powerful and convenient divination tool, before detailing each aspect of the coins that can be used to give a reading – from orientation, to spreads and more. The CMP system allows the reader to give a detailed reading, looking at all the major aspects of a sitter’s life. The book looks at timing events (past, present and future), the relative importance of each area being read, how these relate to each other and whether these areas are set to improve or not. In addition, the CMP system, sets out several, detailed subtleties that serve to enhance the reading given.History,
In over 20 years of giving readings, I found that, depending on audience, one came across several, potential, sitters who did not want a Tarot or palm reading.
For one reason or another (some found the systems too occult, others made connections to films they had seen etc) other people did not want to be read using these systems. Also, I did not always have my Tarot on my person, to give ‘impromptu’ readings. For these reasons, I began to create a system that satisfied several criteria:
- It had to be impromptu, easy to remember, adaptable
- Relatable and non-threatening to my audiences.
- Most importantly, my audience had to be able to relate to the system – intuitively.
The resulting system became Cross My Palm. Since humankind began to notice the passing of time, the change in the seasons and their own mortality we have sought which drive us even today – answers!
- Why am I here?
- What makes me who I am?
- What does my future hold for me?
We attempt to uncover the unknown, the unknowable. We try to make sense of our past and foretell our future. To this end witchdoctors, shaman, Gypsies and psychics turned to casting. Casting stones, gems, twigs and coins. Runes, Tarot and the I Ching have served throughout the centuries to help us answer our most visceral of questions.
TESTIMONIALS:
‘This is a very clever way of doing a reading anywhere anytime, amazing thinking . This is a keeper and well thought out. I love this, it’s brilliant!’ – Neal Scryer“I’ve experimented with different coin reading systems in the past, but never found one I was completely happy with. Your system is superb! It provides detailed readings covering all the main aspects of the person’s life, and even enables you to time future events. I’ll be using this – in fact I’ve already started!” – Richard Webster
“The Cross My Palm system is both novel and useful and I’m certain it will add some zing to almost any reader’s repertoire. Simple to learn and yet as complex as you care to make it, this one should become a ‘standard’.” – Lee Earle
‘Cross My Palm is the kind of reading system I consider to be close to perfection. Think about it: anytime, anywhere, making sense, easy to understand and learn, fun to perform, using something each of us carry all the time, covering all aspects of life, dealing with past, present and future, identifying the person involved in the reading, and even hinting on the sitter’s personality… You can make it fast -choosing to ignore some aspects- or highly complex -taking all the aspects and details into consideration- depending on the circumstances, or your time, or the venue…
I don’t want to say more, as I don’t want to hint on the system. But Scott’s personality, although I never met him, transpires here. Such attention to details, such clarity in his concise -yet very accurate- explanations. He really squeezed every drop of what could be possible to accomplish, as far as readings are concerned, with coins. Enough. You got the point. I love it. And if you’re into readings, so will you.’ – Phedon Bilek
“I believe Scott’s work opens new dimensions for the Mentalist and every serious entertainer. Buy and savor it. 5-stars.” – Marc Salem
RATOON
Scott St Clair is definitely “cooking” after his successful release of BloodSucker, the book-test that has become the 2nd all time selling book-test at Stevens Magic behind MOABT. He has the respect of many of his peers who have provided testimonials including but not limited to Steve Drury and Luca Volpe. We at Stevens Magic have an affinity to recognize a prolific mind when we see it – Scott St Clair has it!
Following the release of his book test, BloodSucker, Scott St. Clair is proud to bring to the community his first book, Ratoon. Ratoon is a collection of mentalism effects that are featured in Scott’s actual repertoire. There are no pipe-dreams, this is all workable mentalism.
Included in Volume 1:
- Sign of the Times—a straight forward, simple star sign divination.
- The Path—a uniquely powerful, numerology effect with an interesting presentation.
- Calendoku—a real fooler and a great follow up for The Path.
- Reading the Signs—a very unusual ‘Tarot’ routine.
- Quick Change—pseudo hypnosis with a simple, no skill method, interesting
premise and killer presentation. - Quince—a book test without a book!
- PLUS—thoughts on the centre tear and thumb writers.
“Scott has the synapse necessary to understand what makes mentalism powerful… He acutely understands the power and know-how to make a connection. His thought process is calculated in a beautiful way from someone in the art that has a solid understanding of the fundamentals of mentalism. My prediction – his rise will continue for a long time.” – Neal Scryer.
Hi Mark – As part of PSYCRETS, I obviously come across some great underground talent, and wanted to give you a “head up” about Scott St Clair” – Steve Drury.

RATOON 2
This is some of the most enjoyable mentalism I have ever read or tried. All of Scott’s books are to be savored and used. 5-star material, easily adaptable to anyone’s style. If occasional math frightens you, don’t let it — he holds your hand — and makes it as easy as 1 plus 1. I don’t know where Scott St. Clair has been all my life, but I am glad he is in it now. His material is very highly recommended, and used, by me.’ – Marc Salem
Ratoon 2 features more of Scott’s actual performance pieces – nine effects, six based around numbers and on essay. These effects are ALL suitable for the ‘real world’ and are simple and direct in approach. There are no pipe-dreams, this is all workable mentalism.
Included in Volume 2:
- a double number routine.
- an effect based on a popular brand logo.
- a very unusual ‘match-up” effect.
- a follow-up to Calendoko (featured in Ratoon Vol. #1).
- a very interesting ‘Tarot’ effect where you display your abilities three times over!
- a book test with a twist, using an ungimmicked book.
- an amazing, hard-hitting PIN divination with a a difference.
- a photograph of psychic ‘energy’ – on a spectator’s LOCKED phone (whilst in their possession)!
- a story telling effect that leaves your spectators speechless.
MY THOUGHTS:
This is an extremely smart book with some real gems in here. The material is not only very clever but also very practical. The book itself is 112 pages with nine routines ranging from a book test to cell phones. The great thing about this book is the effects can be done close-up or on stage or parlor, they are THAT versatile. If you are looking for really solid and audience tested mentalism then this book offers that and more. NIPPIN has become my favorite ‘unlocking’ cell phone effect which offers a unique twist where you touch your finger to the spectator’s finger and you unlock THEIR phone! The structure of this routine makes this an incredibly strong piece and it all happens on their phone. The first part of this routine is the spectator is able to unlock YOUR phone. This is the type of routine you can do anytime and using a borrowed phone. It’s the best version I’ve come across of this type of effect.Another favourite is a routine called LOGO – this would make an excellent routine for trade-show workers using a companies name. In this case the reveal is LEGO but done in such a clever way using a calculator where you turn a random number chosen by the spectator upside down and it reveals the logo. One of the things I love about Scott’s material is that it can be a stepping stone to other ideas and routines.
There is a beautiful piece at the end of the book called PAPA. This is a great example of weaving a story with a strong piece of mentalism. The method is something we know however there are some additions that would really fool those who know it. I can see this being an extremely powerful piece of mentalism that would really leave an audience with a strong memory of the performance.
You will also learn a great way to do a one-handed switch of a billet. It’s so natural and by simply placing a billet in a spectator’s hand you switch it for another – all using one hand.
Testify is an incredible book test using a Harry Potter book. I have no idea how many books Scott must have gone through to get this working but it really is something very special, and one of the most unusual book tests I’ve seen.
I don’t know where Scott has been hiding all these years but I’m glad he has released some of his work. His thinking behind every routine or ‘tool’ he shares in this book shows somebody who definitely thinks outside the box. From being able to divine pin numbers, reveal a word in a book, to effects using a calendar, post-it-notes and photographs this book will have material every mentalist can use. I can’t wait to see what else Scott has coming out because I’ve become a huge fan. – Paul Romhany – Vanish Magazine
YLEM
YLEM – condensed state of matter at the creation of the Universe, which became subatomic particles and elements as we understand them today. 2 (historical) Thought to be derived from an ancient Hebrew word meaning, ‘space between heaven and earth’.
YLEM is a collection of tools for the mystery performer. Each tool is described in the form of one of the ten effects in the book, which comprises of two sections. The first section, Genesis, contains five effects based on the concepts of Energy and Fate; the second, Revelations, contains five effects based on the concepts of Sin and Virtue. Energy, Sin and Virtue, if they exist at all, have been around since the dawn of time. The book explores the concept of ‘the space between heaven and earth’, the unknown forces and energies that influence, or even control, our lives. At the end of the book you are given one example of how these tools (or building blocks) can be themed – creating a powerful, full, routine (and offering you an alternative use for some of the tools provided).
YLEM also provides links to the resources used in the effects, including a link to 20 unique and original cards used in some of the effects. Also included is a link to the video page where some of the tools are explained further. YLEM is a 117 page 6×9 hardback.
‘I’ve Become a Huge Fan’ – Paul Romhany (Vanish Magazine)
Praefatio Proceed with Wonder… I have read thousands of mentalism and magic books in my day, but few are as entertaining, useful and vital as Scott’s. Vital is a key word, it makes your mentalism alive and memorable… Scott makes mentalism live. I do not know what his magic spell was, perhaps the combination of unique titles, methods, and effects, but I have reread this book several times before writing this intro. Its impact sustains itself and grows. It’s enchanting in a haunting kind of way, and you can direct it all into your own personal style.
Its originality makes me smile or gasp, his process is unique. You will discover a great deal about yourself as a performer as you read his secrets. Some may be too good to have been written, this is certainly not fluff. Rarely has a book and writer made me wish to explore his earlier work. I feel compelled to read all he has written.
He gives thanks to Steve Drury, one of the deepest thinkers in mentalism and allied arts, and a good friend, but this book is all St. Clair. Please first read the description and follow Scott’s excellent instruction. I want you to then make it your own, and you have a tremendous teacher. I thought there was little new I could learn in this wonder art. I was wrong. This is the work of a brilliant mind. A new way of thinking, a new way of Mentalism. YLEM is a must have tool. It can enhance all your work. I personally use ideas from it, in a different way. You can adapt it to your personal needs. He has found a new form of Mentalism, I guarantee you’ll love it. A no regret purchase!” – Marc Salem

TITAN
Imagine a book test that uses a fully examinable book! That the spectators can read, cover to cover. That they’ll WANT to read cover to cover. That you give out and never take back (until the effect is over).
- No ‘flashback’ – this is hands off!
- No peek
- No gimmick
- No switch
- No moves
- No questions and nothing said or written down
You don’t need to imagine, TITAN is here! Based on Morgan Robertson’s ‘Futilty’, this book test already has a great backstory and a timeless hook. This novel predates the ill-fated Titanic by over a decade, yet features an unsinkable liner, the largest in the world, that hits an iceberg and sinks. The name of this liner? The Titan!
This, subtly altered, novel is a talking point in its own right. Add in the fact that it contains FIVE forces and you have a winner! But, TITAN goes further—there is a second novel, Frankenstein. This book is customised to allow you to use it in conjunction with the Futility novel, creating a truly powerful piece of mentalism! In addition, this second book contains yet another built in force.
Both books have built in cribs to aid the performer.
But wait, TITAN is the Triple Book Test. The addition of an ungimmicked dictionary allows the use of all THREE books in what is an astonishing closer to any act! Also included is a special, wallet friendly, book test based on the TITAN principle that you can carry with you anywhere.
“Wow! A tremendous amount of thought went into this production and what came out includes completely new (to me) hard-hitting concepts along with evolutions of some of the best from the past (fully credited mind you). The result being one of my favoite booktest – for SURE! There is plenty to get excited about here in terms of content and impact. Equally shocking is the incredible introductory price.” – Paul Romhany (Vanish Magic Magazine)
TITAN comes with BOTH an instructional book and link to a 40min video tutorial. TITAN, the truly Titanic Triple Book Test!

SEANCHAIDH
Seanchaidh is a book of 12 enchanting stories for the mystery entertainer. More than this, there is a magickal effect that goes alongside each piece, interwoven seamlessly and unobtrusively. The methodology is built into the story, leaving the performer to, well, perform. Story telling can be a powerful tool in the arsenal of the mentalist, too few of us ever use it. Seanchaidh shows just how powerful a story can be, how they have shaped our modern world and created and destroyed civilisations. Now, the power of stories has been made available to you. Use it wisely!
“The latest book from Scott St Clair, Seanchaidh, contains twelve entertaining routines, all of which are accompanied by delightful stories. Some of the effects fall under the category of magick, while others could be described as mentalism with a slightly bizarre twist. They’re all entertaining and commercial. I especially liked: Together, which is a delightful key bending effect that Scott performs at wedding receptions. It empowers the bride and groom, whilst it promotes the entertainer at the same time. Only Scott could have dreamed up Prince, a number reveal combined with origami and a fairy story. Witch, a mystery involving a poppet doll, has a clever force that can be used for a number of purposes, and finishes with a surprising and logical reveal involving fire or water. Scott also includes a totally impromptu version that can be performed at any time. It’s a wonderful effect to perform whenever someone asks you to do something, and you’re unprepared.Francesca is one of three effects involving Francesca Rossi, a student of Dr. Rhine’s at Duke University. It uses the same force as Witch to force an ESP card. The story is chilling, and very believable. I’ll be performing it often. Blossom is a charming story that is told while creating a paper rose.
This is a gem of a book, full of charming routines and beautiful stories. It is story telling mentalism at its very best.”
– Richard Webster
“‘Seanchaidh – The Teller of Tales’ delivers in spades. Similarly, to his other books written across the years, it includes good, organic, thought provoking material, conveyed in his own style (which merits him as worthy of inclusion alongside many other giants of mentalism)… the beauty of such presentation is that the magic is subtle and routined as a spectator experience. The performer’s methodologies are cleverly built in to let you concentrate on enjoying your performance. Simply put, this is another St Clair classic!”
– Neal Scryer
“Wow what a great book -While this is filled with great effects, it also offers something even more powerful – it connects to your audience through story telling. This heightens each routine and really leaves an impact on your audience they will never forget.”
– Paul Romhany – Vanish Magazine
“Scott St Clair offers a wonderful collection of effects and routines with a very strong set of narratives. Each routine offers something in and of itself, but could also be joined together for a compelling performance suitable for anyone working in mystery entertainment.’
– Todd Landman, Academic Magician.
“In the aptly titled Seanchaidh, Scott once again brings us a blend of creatively enchanting and captivating performances – this time with an emphasis on storytelling. Be it a light or darker premise, the magick of each experience is incidental – the impact memorable. Plus, for those who follow Scott’s work as I do, you will also find some more gems of thinking between the lines too. Highly recommended.”
